Small Town Artillery Collective

Small Town Artillery is a rock and roll band helmed by brothers Tom and Derek van Deursen. Originally from Kaslo, British Columbia, Tom and Derek have been playing together for over 20 years, with Small Town Artillery as their flagship project for the past 10.

They are a band that is hard to define, but aim to accomplish many things. Hard hitting riffs of guitar and brass, funky grooves, soaring choruses and melodies, and poetic lyrics are some of things that they are most known for.

After a rising 6 years in Vancouver, including headlining festivals, multiple tours, signing to JumpAttack! Records and releasing a full length album and 2 EPs, the band was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Small Town Artillery pivoted, and by following restriction guidelines, booked the “Fewer Faces, Open Spaces” tour,  one of the only live music tours during the summer of 2020 and 2021 in Canada.

Most recently, during some time taken off of performing the band lost a core member, Carson Webber. He had been their dedicated Bass player for almost 10 years and his death sparked a change in how it felt to play music and what it meant to be a band.

Rallying together as a community, and reaching out to construct a new sound and experience, Small Town Artillery now feels itself a collective, with members both new and old forming the current roster.

The Band’s successes & growth are due to their high-energy live show, quality of original music and video, and strong work ethic to see a childhood dream realized, 20 years in the making.
